Our True Goal
In the Greater Vehicle of Buddhism, our ultimate goal is said to be not Buddhahood, but the benefit of others.
Therefore, it is not enough to simply remain in retreat.
We must reflect deeply: how can I become truly capable of benefiting others? And how close am I to being able to do this at the moment? What degree of knowledge, strength of mind, and courage do I actually possess?
With that goal in mind, we come to see that we must first know the Dharma, then we must put that knowledge into practice, and thereby do our utmost to benefit others.
It is in this spirit that we apply ourselves to study and practice.
