Samten Gyaltsen’s Aspiration

བླ་མའི་གཅེས་ཕྲུག་ལགས་ད་ནི་འཚར་ལོང་འབྱུང་བཞིན་འདུག བསྟན་པ་དང་འགྲོ་བའི་དོན་དུ་རྒྱུན་བསྟུད་དེ་ཤུགས་རྒྱབ་ཤོག་ཨ།

Lama’s beloved child, you are now growing up. Please constantly work hard for the sake of the Buddha Dharma and sentient beings. Keep up your efforts!

In this short video, Samten Gyaltsen shares his aspirations for spreading the dharma in his homeland of Zambia. English translation below:

“Hello, and greetings to everyone. My name is Samten Gyaltsen. I am from Zambia, in Africa.

Currently, I am staying in Nepal. It’s been six and a half years since I came here. During this time, I have been mostly studying the Holy Dharma and also doing a little bit of practice. And the reason why I am studying and practising the Buddhadharma is that my hope is to spread the dharma in my homeland. The reason why I want to establish the dharma in my homeland is that, as it says in the texts, it has the ability to dispel all of one’s suffering.

Generally speaking, it is beneficial for all beings, but particularly for those who are really interested. For those with real interest, if they practice the dharma perfectly, they can dispel their own suffering as well as the suffering of others. For this reason, it can also be very beneficial for others. So, whether it is for my own country or for all beings, I am studying with the thought of bringing benefit.

Since we are sentient beings, we are self-centred, we are very attached to our own side of things. So my initial aim is to spread the dharma in my own country. That’s my aspiration, and my main hope for studying the dharma.
