Three-Day Retreat in Hong Kong

In December 2012, Drupon Rinpoche led another three-day retreat at the Thrangu Dharma Centre of Hong Kong. There were around 80 students in attendance. The location was in a sporting facility with onsite accommodation and dining room, and situated in a beautiful bay amidst small forested islands: all the conditions conducive for retreat.

The first meditation session started at 6am with the last 20 minutes set aside for the taking of sojong vows for those who wished to take them. After breakfast Drupon Rinpoche gave teachings on shinay along with general advice for the practice of Dharma. After lunch Rinpoche taught Geshe Lhangri Tangpa’s Eight Verses that Train the Mind, which was followed by another meditation session. In the evening Rinpoche gave more in-depth meditation instructions to those who were on the previous retreat and the more advanced students, whilst the newer students did Mahakala prayers. This was followed by the last meditation session of the day.

The teachings were translated into English by Karma Kunga and into Chinese by Ani Karma Dawa. On the second evening Khenpo Tengyi arrived unexpectedly and translated for a session as well.

Everybody expressed their gratitude and appreciation to Rinpoche, as well as their hope that he conducts similar retreats in the future. Lama Sonam in his concluding comments expressed these sentiments and asked that Rinpoche make the retreat an annual event in his schedule.
