Reunion With Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche, Our Precious Lama
We are honoured and delighted that on the auspicious dakini day of the 25th day of the month, our precious lama, Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche, despite his extremely advanced years, visited Thrangu Sekhar Retreat Centre.
He offered all the retreatants an unforgettable and moving teaching on the fortunate opportunity we have to do retreat in such a special place, with special lamas. He emphasised the need for us to recognise our extreme fortune and to not waste our precious human life but to make it meaningful by being diligent in our study and practice of the dharma.
Rinpoche arrived in the retreat centre during our feast offering to the Lord of Yogis, Milarepa, which we customarily offer on dakini days. On this occasion a group of retreatants sung a feast offering song composed by Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche himself. At the conclusion of the ceremony, Rinpoche kindly consecrated the main temple and the paintings of the eight practice lineages in particular.
On the following day, Rinpoche joined his disciples for lunch. After he had eaten, several groups of young monks and nuns made an offering of their dharma studies to Rinpoche in the form of a short exposition of Śhāntideva’s life story and its oral translation into four languages, a recitation of excerpts from Entering the Middle Way and the Ornament of Realisation, and concluding with a short debate.
We are still basking in the glow of Rinpoche’s loving and blessed presence and pray for many such reunions in the future.
