Anniversary Retreat & New Translation
The Third One-Week Retreat, held from 1st to 8th June 2026, concluded very successfully and under auspicious circumstances.
In conjunction with this event, the Chinese Translation Department of the Marpa Translation Society launched the Chinese translation of the Garland of Nectar-like Advice. For this occasion, Jetsunma Ngödrup Pelzom, the sister of His Holiness the Gyalwang Karmapa, graciously accepted our invitation as the guest of honour. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Jetsunma for her presence at this event, and my heartfelt thanks and appreciation for her sincere kindness and care.
In fact, this retreat had been planned many years ago, during the lifetime of our supreme guide and revered teacher, Kyabje Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche. At that time, there were many devoted lay practitioners living in various parts of the world, both East and West, who wished to participate in such a gathering but lacked suitable opportunities and organisers to make it possible. In order to fulfil the aspirations of these faithful students, I had long intended to organise such a retreat and had made preparations to do so. However, the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic prevented this, and the retreat had to be postponed.
This retreat was organised jointly by the Thrangu Sekhar International Meditation Centre and Thrangu Dharmakara to coincide with the memorial observances to mark the parinirvāṇa of our revered teacher, Kyabje Yongdzin Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche.
Although it was challenging to provide sufficient accommodation and related facilities for all participants, the resident community huddled together in classrooms and other available spaces so that devotees travelling from many different regions could have the chance to do retreat here with accommodation and all other necessities provided free of charge.
I offer these words with the heartfelt aspiration and prayer that this retreat may continue to be held in the years to come.
